Eberlee - Timberframe Barn

History

The First Chapter: Established in 1974

At the age of 22, E. John Post founded Post Construction in 1974. Fresh from George Brown College, John was eager to set out on his own and develop his skills as a licensed carpenter. Most of all, he wanted to bring a high-level of quality and service to every job he touched.

John had a distinct advantage – he understood farming from the grass roots. Having grown up on his family’s dairy farm near Shelburne and Orton, he had firsthand knowledge of farm structures and farmers’ needs. He eventually owned a Guernsey herd, producing cream and raising veal calves. In 1989, John began developing a purebred Limousin beef program, Posthaven Limousin. Today, he continues to produce quality beef genetics that are marketed around the world.

Today, POST has the second generation of Post family members at the helm, and while they bring new ideas and fresh ways of thinking to the business, their strong work ethic and values remain the same.

The Second Chapter: A Second Generation Family Business

POST has grown to be a true family business with the entrance of the second generation. John’s sons, having grown up with the “hammer in the hand”, understand the art of construction from the basics. In time, with John’s son’s coming up to speed and coming into their own John began to enjoy a bit more time working on the farm. At the same time, in the early 2000’s POST continued with solid growth as one of Ontario’s most sought after and respected names in the business.

The Third Chapter: Continued Commitment

Today, the second generation of Post family members are at the helm and have a number of years under their belts. While they have brought some new ideas and fresh ways of thinking, POST continues to pride itself on honesty, a strong work ethic, quality people and values.

This business has been 37 years in the making…and yet…has only just begun. With the rapid changes in rural/agriculture landscape POST continues to look ahead confidently. At the root, we love this business and we love taking our clients dreams and building them into a reality.
