Build Green

We believe that we are called to be good stewards of our environment and we strive to build in a manner that is considerate of the environment. We are relentless at researching building techniques, equipment, building materials and systems that provide ‘green’ solutions.

Building Process: The methods we utilize, the building processes and the efficient management of our teams is the first place to begin. This impacts our decisions in routing our crews, to construction equipment selection and even simple decisions such as material disposal or recycling.

Material Selection and Design: We continue to research and utilize materials that are friendly for the environment. From insulation spray foams based from corn; materials from built-up wood products or FSC rated lumber. Recycled door slab cut-outs for insulation under your floor to recycled rubber mattress products – many options are available for consideration. We can assist you in your decisions – whether a simple selection in windows thermal quality or contemplating a straw bale wall construction. We are no stranger to alternative wall and roof systems from Structural Insulated Panels (SIP), to Insulated Concrete Forms (ICF) or recycled timber frames.

We are relentless at researching building techniques, equipment, building materials and systems that provide ‘green’ solutions.

Operational Efficiency: Then every facility carries a footprint following construction. With some forethought in design we can minimize the impact. Increased insulation, rain water harvesting systems, geo-thermal heating; natural ventilation systems, solar panels and energy efficient lighting systems to name a few. At POST we have been utilizing LED lighting systems in barns since 2009 with outstanding success. Currently we have developed lighting systems that are Smart – with control systems in dairy barns to ensure Long Day Lighting criteria, but harvesting sunlight as it is available.
